A 7-day private expedition out of San Regis on the Marañón, built around five solid days of fishing. Day 1 is the journey in, a scenic 4-hour run from Iquitos with river dolphins, villages and birdlife along the way, and you're still fishing by early afternoon. Day 2 opens with a visit to a Cucama river community and a climb to the canopy walkway before the lines go back in. Days 3 through 6 are full days on the water, pushing into river country the shorter trips never reach. One camp night, trade rod for spear: take baitfish the traditional way with your guide, then put them back in the water after dark for the river's big fish. Your last casts come at dusk on Day 6, with an optional night session for the catfish bite. Day 7 is breakfast and the daylight run back to Iquitos.
The centerpiece: a full day targeting arapaima (paiche), one of the largest freshwater fish on Earth, at a private spot reserved for our guests. Beyond that, target a dozen-plus Amazon species, peacock bass (tucunaré), redtail and tiger shovelnose catfish, tambaqui, pacu, piranha, payara, wolf fish, arowana and more, wherever the bite is best: oxbow lakes, flooded forest or the main river, as your guide reads the water and the season.
Meals included from a snack-style breakfast en route on Day 1 through breakfast on Day 7, with purified water throughout. Back in Iquitos between 1 and 2 PM on the final day.

First and last nights
A rustic riverside guesthouse in San Regis with a common room and outdoor area. Other guests may be staying at the same time, but your group gets its own private rooms. Bathrooms are shared.

The nights in between
Your camp is private: just your group, no other guests. Tents and bedding provided, hammocks, fresh camp meals and river bathing. There's no electricity.

5:30 AM pickup from your Iquitos hotel.
Two hours by road to the river port at Nauta with a snack-style breakfast en route, then two hours upriver by boat. The ride in is part of the trip: pink river dolphins, riverside villages and birdlife as the Amazon wakes up. Arrive San Regis late morning.
Your first night is at the jungle house, with private rooms and shared bathroom. Drop your bags and rig your rods with the crew. All gear provided: rods, reels, tackle, lures and bait for the full range of Amazon species.
Rigged and on the water by early afternoon, fishing through the evening with an optional night session after dinner.
Morning visit to a Cucama river tribe, then climb to the canopy walkway for panoramic views over the rainforest.
Head out with the crew to fish for peacock bass, piranha, pacu and more, wherever the bite is best, whether that's oxbow lakes, flooded forest or the main river, moving as your guide reads the water and the season. Tonight and tomorrow night you camp riverbank-style at your group's own spot.
Lunch on the water, then back to the bite.
Lines out until dusk, then dinner at camp.
A full day targeting arapaima, one of the largest freshwater fish on Earth, at a private spot reserved for our guests.
With two extra days, the guide pushes farther than the 5-day trip can reach: new stretches of river, oxbow lakes and flooded forest, wherever the bite is best. Peacock bass, catfish, pacu and more.
A full day in country few anglers ever fish, moving camp if the fishing calls for it. Time to revisit whatever has been producing, or chase a species still on your list. Lines in until dusk, dinner at camp.
Before the night session, your guide hands you a traditional fishing spear, the kind local fishermen still use, and shows you how to take baitfish the old way. That fresh bait then goes back in the water after dark for the river's big fish, giant catfish and more.
We push further out for catfish, tambaqui, and more!
Lines out until dusk, then back to the jungle house for your last night: dinner and an optional night session for the catfish bite.
An early start with breakfast before the journey back: downriver to Nauta and overland to Iquitos, a daylight run through the same wildlife-rich stretch of river. Hotel or airport drop-off between 1 and 2 PM.
Itinerary order subject to change based on guide recommendation and river conditions.
